All of our Guides are Tanzanians, many of whom have grown up around the foothills of Kilimanjaro. 

They are fully trained and registered as Guides by the Tanzanian Authorities. You just can’t call yourself a Guide without meeting minimum requirements. 

We have eight  Guides, five of which are Chief Guides and certified by internationally-recognized Sentinel Outdoor Institute (SOI) as Wilderness First Responders and are recertified every two year. They also regularly attend refresher courses in first-aid and emergency procedures.

Majestic Kilimanjaro guides are: 

• Fluent in English and Swahili
• Each guide has 150 -200+ professional summits of Kilimanjaro
• Trained to use extensive emergency equipment, including stretchers, AEDs, oxygen and life-saving medications
• Regularly check guests for signs of altitude sickness
• Trained in high-altitude evacuations.
